On April 16, the new regional airport in Qaqortoq was officially inaugurated. I was very honoured to be invited to attend the ceremony.

This new airport provides international travellers with direct access to the main town in South Greenland for the first time, marking the opening of one of the Arctic’s most diverse and lesser-visited regions.

The airport replaces Narsarsuaq as the primary access point, significantly reducing travel time to the southern hub of Greenland.

I was fortunate to witness this historic milestone — a moment that marks a turning point in Greenland’s connection to the world.
